It's unfortunate - Sammy's recently become very fond of Emma. He's constantly involving her in his play, be it putting sunglasses on her, racing cars toward her, or trying to get her "on the airplane"; he feeds her scraps of whatever he's eating, and he takes care of her, too, by reminding me to feed and water her daily.

I have a BOY

Sammy is such a kid now. And such a boy. I can't get over it. But he's still so sweet that I just want to grab him up and snuggle, squeeze and kiss him, and luckily he's only looking like a stud because he still little boy enough to totally love big hugs from the Mommy Monster.

Even though a lot of the time it's waaaay earlier than I'd like, it's such a joy to be able to wake up to these two and hang out just on a random weekday morning.

This is what it looked like when I got the mail this morning. There was a beautiful red cardinal in the tree but I couldn't get a good picture of him through the branches.

still sick

Sammy didn't wake up until 10 a.m. and he's still dragging, and not eating but he wasn't as warm today as he has been. Temp wise he's maybe been around 100, but it's hard to tell because I am giving him Tylenol Cold for his sore throat, unproductive cough and super yucky runny nose.

Speaking of snot and where to put it, other moms of boys may appreciate this: Sammy favorite method of removing the snot is surprisingly not a tissue but his pointer finger. This evening he was coloring on the kitchen floor while I made Freddie's dinner and I saw him wipe his nose with his finger and then wipe it on the floor. So watch out when you come to our house. There's not telling what's on the floor. *yuck*

And Sammy finally ate something. I actually bribed him into eating some soup with the promise of a cupcake after. It worked!


He still looks sick, though.


But happy about the cupcakes.

And he stayed in his jammies all day today.

An update on our week. And it's only Tuesday.

What could be more fun for a mom than getting a pedicure while downing a glass of wine (or bowl of Cold Stone, depending on the sort of mama you're talking about)? I'll tell you - a sick preschooler and a teething baby. Yee-haw!

It's been a thrilling week thus far at our house. Sammy's been running a fever since Monday morning - we had to cancel playgroup last-minute Monday, and he missed preschool this morning. He was still running 101 degree fever before bed tonight. Over the past two days, however, we had discovered a cool new show on PBS called Word World. He cracks up at it. It is precious to hear him belly laugh at a show. And it's about letters and words and spelling. No whiney (unnamed) four-year-olds on the screen. Word World. It's cute. And if your a mama who lets her kiddo(s) watch TV then you might should check it out. *thumbs up*

Freddie has his offically cut his first two teeth. Sunday night was brutal - neither one us slept much. But he slept through last night no problem. The difference? His amber teething necklace. Hokey? Maybe. But I'm not gonna scoff/laugh at something that lets me (and the baby) sleep.

We had another snow day today. It snowed all day. In fact, as Jacob is out there in the 12 degree night, it is still snowing. Here are some pictures from this morning. These are mostly for our family/friends that don't get winter where they live, all others kindly ignore as I'm sure you are already sick of looking at this stuff. But I think it's so fresh and sparkly. :)

Freddie was cracking himself up yesterday. He was checking out his fine self in a little plastic baby toy mirror.


Sammy was unamused by his brother's antics. He gave one of his fake laughs. Which cracks his mother up.

teeth trauma

Tuesday night Sammy fell up the stairs. His front two bottom teeth (now we know it was the front four) received the blow. He bled and bled from behind his teeth, and they have obviously shifted. But now, four days and a first-ever dentist visit later, he's not favoring those teeth as much.

The middle two bottom teeth are okay for now, but we need to keep watch over them from now on because there is no way of telling just yet if the teeth died in the blow. If they become infected then they'll have to be pulled. But, if they survived, well, then, everything is fine. So we just wait and see and pray for the best.

The outter two from the middle were chipped pretty bad - same goes as with the top.

Poor kid. He's good for the moment, though. Too bad there's no cure for clumsy little boys. I tell ya folks, I don't call him Gale Force for nothin'.

Freddie's been lifting up his upper body and getting his knees up under him... just a few steps away from crawling!

And then, he's pooped! Plops down and sucks his thumb for a few moments, then tackles it again.

O Christmas Tree

December 1st was our first super snowy day, and it made for perfect tree-gettin' weather.

This was the tree Jacob and Jess had all picked out.



Sammy wanted the skimpiest Charlie Brown tree.


But we compromised and got this beauty. A steal at $10!

It is taller than Sammy, promise!
