My First Signs

Inspired by Cal (http://calmiller.blogspot.com/) I picked up my first signing book today called My First Signs. Just before Easter I started picking up a few of this things Mom's been signing: "more" "eat" "milk" and "drink" so I think this is a great next step. My friend Cal knows lots of signs (he even has signs good manners!) so both Mom and I are very excited to learn more. Well, once I get over being sick we'll tackle that. Right now avoiding a nose wiping is first on my baby agenda.

I am sick.

I've been running a fever since Tuesday morning of this past week. Tuesday afternoon after my nap my temperature was 104, under the arm, so Mom rushed me to the pediatrician. The doctor checked me over and couldn't find anything wrong (aside from the fever), then Mom and I hung out most of the afternoon waiting for me to pee into a plastic bag so they could test my pee. Wow, you should have seen how everyone got all excited when, at 4:45 p.m., I finially filled that bag up. There were four nurses there cheering for me, so of course I got in on the celebration and clapped for myself. That was fun. Feeling sick and having a fever for the rest of the week was not. I am still sick, but my temperature has gone done to under 100 as of this morning and Mama has me on orange Triaminic for my clear runny nose. I have been a bit of a monster this week, so I know my parents will be glad to have me back to my usual charming self.

Whew.

We are finally home. I can't tell you how happy I am to be sleeping in my own crib. Funny thing, I am actually there right now. (Pretty amazing that I am posting to my blog telepathically, huh?)

So, quick update: Mama and Daddy found a house in Mini Apples. I got to check it out today and it's pretty cool. It has lots of doors. I am fascinated by doors right now. Open. Close. Open. Close. I am even tall enough to turn the handle.

I also got to hang with my friends, Cal and Kennedy this week. I had so much fun (except for the lack of sleep!) but my parents kind-of dorked out and forgot the camera so I'm going to have to rely on my friends for photographic proof of my visit.

Easter in New Orleans

I've had such a fun time hanging out with Mama, Daddy, Grampa and Granny in Gnawlins! Here are some pictures from our trip...

I also got all of the best loot - Queen Armenious even threw me "her" prize bear! Here I am with Granny, Grampa, Daddy and said bear.

I walked!

I gave Mama her birthday present - I took my first official steps today! Woo-hoo! Mama and Daddy were jumping up and down and clapping their handing, totally spazing out. (I wonder what they were so excited about - ?)

So, here's how it went down: I was standing, holding onto my rocking elephant and I decided it would be fun to jump on Mama. Without thinking about it I let go of the elephant and took two big, kind-of sturdy-looking steps to my mom. Then I fell over on her and giggled. It was great.

I walked lots more after that, back and forth to Mama and Daddy, from Mama to the couch (while Daddy recorded it), and from my playwall to my walker. Walking is fun, but my paws are still a bit big and I fall down a lot. I hit my head on the side of the couch and on the closet door upstairs. I may have a knot, a bruise for sure. Ah, battles scars of my first foray into walking. More stories to come, I am sure, but tomorrow I am off to a place called Gnawlins (something about music, beignets, and gold, purple and green beads...???) to spend Easter with my Granny and Grampa.

I've had a fun week!

My great-grandparents (aka Mom-Mom and Pop), my great-aunt (Aunt Pattie) and my Aunt Jen all came down from Baltimore to see me, Mama and Daddy. Here are a few pictures from our visit...

Image hosting by Photobucket
Pre-visit: I *loved* climbing and jumping over the couch cushions as Mama set up the sofa bed. We should do this all the time!

Image hosting by Photobucket
Pop was making me laugh *so* much! Kisses are great.

Image hosting by Photobucket
Aunt Jen amazed me with her bubble gum bubbles. She even let me pop them - sticky, sticky, sticky.

Image hosting by Photobucket
I rode the carousel with Pop and Aunt Jen. Isn't my aunt pretty?

Oh my gosh! The Georgia Aquarium is *amazing*!!! I loved it so much. Here I'm trying to show Mama and Daddy all the neat fish. I liked going up to the glass and tap, tap, tapping. Hello, fish!

Mini Apples bound

Mama and Daddy told me a couple days ago that we are moving to Mini Apples (?) in a couple of months. I really have no concept of time, but I am pretty sure that my friends Cal and KP are there - and I know I like applesauce - so I figure Mini Apples is gonna be pretty cool.

I must still be hungry

Because I just ate one of my orange cheese crackers out of Emma's dog food bowl. At least I picked one of my crackers instead of a piece of dog food, right?

I am currently sleeping in my car seat in the garage. I couldn't fall asleep for the longest time last night and missed out on almost two good hours of sleep. I guess that is why. Aunt Holly said it probably took me a while to fall asleep because I was thinking about my baby day and needed extra time to settle down, do my crib gymnastics and all that. She's probably right. Aunt Holly is very smart.

Pix for your Sammy fix.

I love this toy! (Also, check out my new SHARK shoes! Thanks to those of you who voted, all three of you.)

I've also gotten pretty good about scooting myself around on this. Walk? Who needs to walk?!

Play day.

Today Mom and I went to Kroger with the Hudsons. I got to ride next to Joey in the big cart with a two-seater car attachment. We each got a chocolate chip muffin from the bakery so at first we were eating, talking with our mouths full and getting chocolate crumbs all over ourselves, but after we polished off the muffins Joey and I took turns smacking each other and squealing like pigs. It was awesome. I love being a boy.

I also had a mini-play date this morning with Rachel since our playgroup was cancelled. (Some of you might remember Rachel from my birthday party.) Rachel is very active and we get along great - today we both played in her big plastic house, climbing over each other and pushing each other out of the way to get to all the neat toys. We were very adorable playing together. I also ran a few laps around her house with her walker.

I had so much fun playing with my friends today that I didn't even notice it was a rainy and I couldn't play outside!

"Here we go 'round the big red barn...!"

Mom and Dad got me the coolest thing from the clearance rack at Target today: a Little People farm-themed ride-on. I *love* it. The handles have two buttons, which I can push and make play music. The buttons also make the farmer, cow and horse "...go 'round the Big Red Barn!" One of the buttons makes various animal sounds - when the cow "moos" I "mooooo" too! This is the *best* toy. I can push it around, I can push buttons, and it moos. :) <----big 'ol baby grin

Pix to follow....

Shoe poll

I am about to need a new pair of Robeez (because I'm growing and because all my walking and crawling is wearing out my Monkey pair) but I can't decide what design to get! I like the Shark, Sailboat and the Crab. What do y'all think? I think I'm leaning toward the Shark (because I'm tough!) but I just don't know for sure....

Check out: http://www.robeez.com/Department.aspx?DeptID=3&PriceCat=2&Lang=EN-US and tell me which one is your fav.

Thanks!
Sammy

Leya's visit

Yesterday my friend Leya came over to play while her parents went for a motorcycle ride through the Blueridge Mountains. It was a very sunny, pretty day and I am sure they had fun, but not as much fun as Leya and I had! (Well, except for Leya getting sick during lunch and feeling icky for the last hour she was here.) We chased each other around the play room. We went on a wagon ride. We snacked. We napped. I ate lunch, Leya got sick. Then, we watched Baby Davinci and played with my stacking cups. It was a good day!

Leya's mom brought over her wagon.

Leya is really wishing I would stop grabbing her shoe. But it has really cool sparkly laces.

My thought for today:

Carrots are yucky.

I have to go now because Mom and I are going to Jordana's house to play.

Dining in my diaper.

Today I was so hungry for lunch that I wouldn't let Mom put on my pants before she fed me. Well, a boy's gotta eat.

Rocks are fun!

Today I discovered rocks while I was cruising around the backyard with my walker. They are so fun! You can pick them up, tap them against the house, try to feed them to the dog, bang them against each other, and even taste them, although I wouldn't advise it! Mom kept telling me "No" whenever I would even try to lick a rock.

I said rock a couple of times, but you know parents with their old ears, she thinks I said my work for duck - "dek" - for rock. Either way, duck and rock sound similar enough.

My mom took some cute pictures of me playing with them, which she will hopefully post later.
