Bear Class Music Program
Sammy's very first gig had Jacob and I crying with laugher. It was a very entertaining to watch such a fun group of 3 year olds, and we are so proud of our boy and his part in it. Here are some pictures from the evening.
Walking up with Miss Michelle and Amelia.

With some of his favorite people:
classmates Cal and Hannah

Teacher's pet! Sammy and Miss Michelle

Sammy was exhausted after the show. He was too excited for the program to nap today and instead spent naptime singing very loudly in his room. Here he is after the wrap party:

And one of Cal because he is such a cute and cooperative subject!

In case anyone was wondering, Freddie stayed at home with Miss America. More on this later... :)

My (what's becoming) weekly cloth diapering post
I stumbled upon this website [ Karen's Cloth Diapering Site ] and I thought the information would be very helpful to any of the mom's out there considering/pondering/curious about CDing. Karen has links to useful information, as well as pictures for visual learners. I would have gobbled up this site when I was first starting out!
And one piece I particularly like, which I hope will put it into perspective for some: "Also, if you start out this* way, you'll spend the equivalent of about 2 months worth of disposable diapers. So just make a deal with yourself. Buy a starter kit, try it for 2 months. Then if you don't like it, you haven't lost any money. Actually, you can usually sell cloth diapering supplies for a decent percentage of what you spent, so you won't really be out any money at all."
*2 dozen Chinese prefolds, 6 covers, and a snappi

My little baker
Playing together

Freddie is naked because I couldn't take the smell. It reminded me of the pre-Christmas Parmesan Goldfish throw-up of Sammy's. So I put fresh clothes on him two hours before bedtime.

They were both laughing over this bear. It is very sweet to see them interacting. Even if Freddie really has no idea what in the world is going on, as much as his brother tries to explain. :)
Upon waking from his afternoon nap
New Red Shoes
Sammy just loves his new red shoes that he picked out, red like Arthur and Caillou wear. We finally have the new size right, an 11W (eek! already!), and as you can see in the following pictures, Sammy is wearing them happily.

Giving us all a good view of both his and Arthur's red shoes. I believe Caillou was still resting in bed when these pictures were taken this afternoon.
Here's my question for my other mom friends: do you make sure that you can fit a thumb between the top of their toe and the end of the shoe? These red shoes look huge, but really it's only about a thumb of extra space at the top, like I've always heard you want with kids' shoes. So, curious to hear what others do. I think Sammy wears a bigger size than most of his friends and I wonder if it's because I give him the extra room? :headscratch:

"Baby, come to me!"
Forgot a funny Sammy story from playgroup this past Thursday.
One of the moms there has two daughters, one Sammy's age and one about 22 months old, a toddler named Ruby. Sammy and Ruby hit it off on Thursday, pretending to eat together at a little picnic table. After a brief moment where Ruby dared to seperate herself from young Sammy, he had no choice but to scold her by saying "baby, come to me."
And that last sentence was how the story was finished by Jacob. Actually, Sammy left Ruby at the table to do a loop around the room on a bike and while he was gone Ruby moved onto the slide. From across the room Sammy said, "Baby! Come to me!" Reminded me of Beavis and Butthead, anyone (beside Jacob and me) remember, "he he he, come to Butthead..."
Sammy really was quite taken with Ruby, or as he calls her, Baby. He's been talking about her here and there since Thursday. (Sammy has a crush!*giggle*)

Sammy stuff
Sammy has really been digging letters lately. (Finally, right Cal? ;) At snack time he's been requesting letter cookies and reading each one out to me. At the Post Office, he points out letters on the floor mats. He looks at my Better Homes & Gardens and picks out letters. Everywhere he sees them he gets excited to recognize letters!
He also spells his name. He has a name train he received a couple Christmases ago from Aunt Wendy and he puts the train together, spelling as he goes. The other night it wasn't in the right order, but he read it to me, spelling out, "S. A. M. M. Caboose. Y." All matter-of-fact.
Some cute wordisms:
"downtop" - meaning the bottom or lower thing. Guess because I say "up top" about some things.
"tomorning" - think tomorrow, tonight. Tomorning is this morning. I think.
"telled" - I realize all kids do this but this is one in Sammy's back pocket. I think it's cute.
... I know there are more but Freddie's requesting some attention now so this will have to do for now...

In desperate need of a nap
In all his Freddieness
All in an early morning
This is how we play before Sammy gets up in the mornings

Ideal baby toys: a hanger and a shoe. (Those are Jacob's sexy slippers, in case anyone was curious. Someday they will meet up with the pink shorts of Cody's and form a perfect union. lmao)

Discovering a new toy - cords! (And an even better shot of the hottest slippers around!)

Blocked by Mommy! Temporarily baby-proofed by a fluffy pillow. Whew.

I'll admit it - I drink the cloth diaper KoolAid
But read THIS and tell me - now that you have a better understanding of what's IN those Pampers - that you still want to put your kid in disposables. I feel like such an idiot for never asking questions until Freddie couldn't shake his rashy red booty.
